Cleaning Kitchen Counters
The best way to clean and sanitize one of the most important areas in your kitchen.
Bleach and commercial kitchen cleaning agents are the best sanitizers-provided they're diluted according to product directions. They're the most effective at getting rid of bacteria. Hot water and soap does a good job, too, but may not kill all strains of bacteria. Soap and water will get rid of the dirt that some bacteria may be attached to, but it will not effectively kill bacteria on the surface. You can properly clean and sanitize your kitchen counters in two steps.
1. First clean all surfaces with warm, soapy water. Rinse with warm water to remove soap and dirt. Allow to air dry, or use paper towels.
2. Use a commercial sanitizer or bleach (read directions for proper dilution) mixed with water to properly kill all remaining bacteria on surfaces.
