Simple Guidelines Help to Make Dishes and Dishwashers More Clean
INDIANAPOLIS, October 4, 2007 -- Selecting the correct detergents, additives and cleaners for commercial dishwashers helps to ensure cleaner dishes. Following some simple guidelines will also help to keep the dish machine properly running.

When selecting detergents, do not choose one just because the cost is lower than the rest. Instead, consider the concerns needing to be addressed in relation to dishes and cleaning. Is hard water in the kitchen an issue? Or, is the water very soft? Does the menu include food items that tend to stick to plates? Or, are heavily-soiled dishes not an issue?

Each type or brand of detergent is made to tackle different problems and it is important to purchase one that is specifically created for each problem. There is not one all-purpose detergent that can overcome all of the problem areas. Instead, purchase one that is created to control the kitchen's biggest issue.

Once a detergent is selected, do not overstock the supply. Detergent that is left in storage too long is more likely to become damp from spills, humidity or employee mistake. Once detergent has become damp, it loses its effectiveness in the dishwasher.

Just like detergents, rinse additives are not all the same. Specific types are available to overcome problems like water density and heavily-soiled dishes. Use the same guidelines as listed for detergent selection to choose a rinse additive.

As important as it is to have clean dishes, it is important that the dishwasher itself is clean. Different types of cleaners are on the market that are used to clean and disinfect the dish chamber and sprayers in the dishwasher. Cleaners work to remove lime scale and other mineral deposits, which can block water lines in and out of the machine. Each manufacturer has different instructions that should be followed for optimal results.
